Functions and Features

The TD20 board provides for colorless drop of a maximum of 20 coherent wavelength signals, broadcast loss compensation, and in-service monitoring of optical power, alarms, and performance.

Table 1 describes the functions and features of the TD20 board.

Function and Feature	Description
Basic function	Broadcasts a multi-wavelength signal that contains up to 20 optical signals for local dropping (colorless application).
WDM specification	Supports the DWDM specification.
Compensation for broadcast loss	Uses the built-in EDFA module to compensate for broadcast loss. The EDFA module works in gain-locking mode. Adding or dropping one or more channels does not affect the signal gain of other channels The signal power jitter on some channels does not affect the signal gain of other channels. The EDFA module has the transient state control function. When channels are added or dropped, the OptiX OSN 9800 Universal Platform Subrack can be upgraded or expanded without interrupting services because this function can suppress channel optical power jitter. NOTE: The TN97TD20 board does not support the function.
In-service optical performance monitoring	Provides an in-service monitoring port. This port connects to an optical spectrum analyzer or spectrum analyzer unit to monitor the signal power performance without affecting traffic. NOTE: The TN97TD20 board does not support the function.
Alarm and performance event monitoring	Monitors and reports the optical power of the built-in EDFA module. Monitors the temperature of the pump laser. Detects the drive current, back facet current, pump cooling current, and temperature of the pump laser and the ambient temperature of the board. NOTE: The TN97TD20 board does not support the function.
Optical-layer ASON	Supported
Spectrum application	Only the TN97TD20 board supports extended C-band wavelengths
